At the AGM the league set up for next season agreed as 4 divisions. Top 3 divisions with 12 teams and a 4th division of 11 teams.

seagull,
thanks for the info,
last season division 1 only had 8 teams and 3/4 of them were off very poor standard , just look at the leagues table , 10 teams max as cant see what benefit it is for certain teams who will get hammered
saying that footy is a funny game and perhaps the standard will improve ,
how is it decided which 12 ? is it a choice or is it no relegation 4 up ?

The league tables don't tell you that 3 or 4 sides in Division I were of a very poor standard. They tell you that there was a gulf between the top and the bottom but no more than that.
The overall standard in Division I was very good. Leith Athletic was out of sight better than all the rest. They are an exceptionally good team, but that doesn't mean that other teams in the division should be deemed 'very poor'.
However, it could only be a good thing if the other teams in Division I were to close the gap on Leith next season.
Incidentally, there will be 11 teams in Division I next season.

malteser,
fair points and cheers
11 teams is a strange number a gap week , surely it should have been an even number
but lets hope so , cant see anyone getting close to leith though

No problem.
It ended up with 11 teams because after doing a trawl the association couldn't find another team to join and make up 12.
Leith will take some catching. In all fairness, they are very good side to watch.
Just to put things in perspective, if you have a look at the performance of the Division I teams in the Scottish Cup, South East Region Cup and Ken Ritchie, you can see just how powerful the Division I was. For instance, the winners, two semi finalists and four quarter finalists in the Scottish Cup came from our Division I. Not bad.

totally agree , leith are a class above, the next 2 are very strong, the next couple decent, not much to chose between the rest
but compared to other leagues definetly a very strong if not the strongest at this age level ,
dont understand why a team wouldnt jump at the chance to enter the top division is that not what natural progression is all about
or is it like last year where some teams stayed a div below so they would be favourites for there own little divisions cup !
if that was the case then the league should be only 10 teams to avoid the blank week

My scribbled notes from the AGM have Loanhead volunteering to go up to Division 1 to make it a round 12 teams.
Their "promotion" opened up a gap for Seton to be restored in Div 2 as they had not rejoined in time and were in danger of going into the bottom division.
IMO, the new Divisions 2 & 3 look pretty even and balanced and would be most surprised if there are runaway winners in there.
Should make for interesting fixtures when they come out in early August.
