Under the constitution it is 2 up, 2 down. Unless a team(s) folds, in which case the team(s) in that division will stay where they are. The number of teams in each division are decided by the members, on the committee recommendation, at the AGM. Any teams not registered by the AGM are considered 'new teams' and join in the bottom division, whether they played in the last season or not. A team does not have to be promoted to a higher division if it does not want to move up.

A couple of the divisions at the 1995 age group (notably Divisions 2 & 4) have been very tight in regard to the top two.

It shall be interesting to see how the divisions are set up next season.

yes, my team just now are looking like they are going to finish 3rd in the 5th and I think if they stay in the 5th its not going to benifit them or other teams so I do hope there is maybe a we restucture in plan...

The top 4 teams from the 5th could do well in the 3rd...

The fact Division 1 only had 8 teams and other Divisions had 12 seemed bizarre last year

Hopefully this will be sorted this year as some strong teams in division 2 decided to stay out of division 1

As for 2 up 2 down depending if they take up the option will leave the new set up intresting to say the least

As for jumping to div 3 if u only finished 3rd in div 5 cant see how u could jump divisions

I would also say the top 5 or 6 teams in Division 4 could also hold their own and do well in a division above as its been nip and tuck all season with each other.

Think the top teams in Division 2 must go up and try their luck in Division 1 to spread out the teams participating in the leagues below. It will be disappointing if any of the top teams in that league decline to go up.

Division 3 is also a bit light on numbers compared to the other divisions (apart from Division 1) so it could be beefed up easily.

As said previously, its gonna be an interesting restructure for next season.

Yes I hope so because I don't like seeing teams getting hammered by 10 goals +....its not good for the opisition and there is not a lot of benifit for the winning team apart from a confidendence boost.

So who is looking forward to agm....

If the logical happens and 4 divisions of 12 are created you could have the following scenario:

Division 1 had 8 teams so if the bottom 2 are relegated it means the top 6 from Division 2 step up. Total 12 teams.

Division 2 had 12 teams but lose 6 and gain 2 with Division 1. If 2 are relegated then the top 6 from Division 3 step up. Total 12 teams.

Division 3 had 8 teams but lose 6 and gain 2 with Division 2. If the bottom 2 are relegated then it needs 10 teams to make a total of 12. I would go for the top 6 from Division 4 and the top 4 from Division 5. That should make 12 teams.

Division 4 would be left with the bottom 2 from Division 3, the bottom 4 from Division 4 and the remaining 6 from Division 5. Total 12 teams.

Phew. Anyone still following this ! I'm away for a lie down.

If there is an increase in the number of teams in a Division, then there would be no relegation from that Division.

Poor Alan Archibald will be pulling out his hair this year, I have also heard that there is 2 or maybe 3 teams folding in division 5 and Haddington United are going back to under 13s next year.

Surely if a team end up at a bottom of a division they won't fancy another season of struggling ? Would they not want to find their level perhaps at a lower division.

If they want to go down, then that is their perogative. However it would not be the norm to increase the number of teams in a division by bringing up more than two teams from a lower division to make up the numbers and then put a team already in that division down!

I just feel that something has got to be to done, after all at this age group we are trying to develope kids not put them off playing football and getting hammered week in week out is not good for confidence because they will get fed up and just leave the club.
